When prodigals tread up the path to righteousness, God can’t sit still. Heaven’s throne room echoes with the sound of slapping sandals and pounding feet, and angels watch in silence as God embraces his child. (Max Lucado)
I don’t agree with Max Lucado–I believe there will be cheering and rejoicing, with lots of beautiful singing, when the prodigal returns. The angels already know the all emcompassing love and mercy of God, and they will rejoice as the prodigal enters the room, and cheer like crazy as God greets him/her with hugs and tears of happiness!
I think the author’s intent is to express God’s love and God’s joy when one returns to Him. Nobody “really” knows what happens in Heaven, except for those already in the presence of God.
